The 54th Cheadle Civic Society AGM was held on Wednesday, May 9th, 2018.

The existing committee members were all re-elected unopposed and chairman Phillip Gould-Bourn reported on the numerous activities the Society had been involved with over the previous 12 months.

These included:

Supplying and displaying Cheadle archive pictures at Cheadle Library

Supporting the courtyard garden outside Cheadle Library

Organising a highly successful "Haloween on the Green" event on Cheadle Green
-
Maintaining the lawns and gardens in Cheadle Green, with a special thanks to Peter Rowley
-
Assisting with organised ad-hoc litter picks in Cheadle
-
Funding the repairs and removal of the Ockleston Memorial (returning to the front of Cheadle Green)

Funding floral displays throughout the village
-
Monitoring planning applications and other council funded initiatives in the village

At the conclusion of the AGM was a special talk by Alan Bullock, a director of local firm Bullocks Coaches, on the history of the company.

This was a highly informative and very well illustrated talk about one of the best known family run businesses in Cheadle and several generations of the Bullocks family were in attendance.
