The Civic Society donated £1000 and assisted greatly with the planning of what was a truly spectacular festival to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee on Saturday the 2nd of June.

The event was held on Ashfield Road and Jubilee Park and amongst the many attractions and activities on hand were a classic car show, buskers, food stalls, fun fair, judo demonstration, steel band, fitness assessment area, Morris dancing, barbershop choir, dog show and much more. The Civic Society also had a prominent stand at the event and many hundreds of local people turned up for what was regarded as a very successful community event.

Hundreds of local people turned up for a very special day 

Several thousand programs were printed and proceeds from their sales went to local charities 

Judy from Cheadle Library was resplendent in her period costume 

Many other visitors dressed appropriately 

Dozens of local traders turned up selling all sorts of products 

Many of the trade stalls sold Jubilee related gifts

The go-kart arena was also popular with local youngsters 

A number of local sports clubs had a presence and encouraged people to get involved

The "all-white" dress code was abandoned for the day as some instructors dressed for the occasion

There were plenty of food stalls on hand 

The cooked meat proved a big hit with many people

The home-made cakes were also very popular

A steel band carried on in the main field despite the rain 

Many groups performed on the main stage. The exercise class was one of the most exuberant 

A posse of young local dancers also carried on in the wet weather 

There was a prize for every winner at the coconut shy 

Cheadle Civic Society chairman and chairman of the organising committee Andrew Taylor spent the day ensuring everything worked to plan 

Dozens of helium filled balloons were specially purchased and then released from the main field 

Moments later and the balloons are passing over Cheadle village 

The day's events concluded with the "Cheadle's Got Talent" competition which was won by 14 year old soprano singer Scarlett Quiqley
